Google Search Console SEO Guide
Set up your blog, get your pages indexed and use real Google search data to improve your SEO.
Why Google Search Console Matters
Publishing an article is only the beginning of SEO. You also need to understand whether Google can discover your pages and what people are actually searching for.
Google Search Console gives website owners useful information about search performance, including clicks, impressions, CTR, average position and search queries.
In this guide, we will actually set it up and use the data to improve a blog.
🗺️ Our SEO Roadmap
Add your website

Improve your content
🚀 Step 1 — Open Google Search Console
Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account you want to use for your website.
Search Console is Google's tool for monitoring how your website performs in Google Search.
Open Google Search Console →💡 What You Can See
- Search clicks
- Search impressions
- Click-through rate
- Average search position
- Search queries
- Pages appearing in Google
🔐 Step 2 — Add Your Website
After opening Search Console, add your website as a property.
Pay attention to the property type and make sure the website address you add matches the site you want to monitor.
Don't copy a property URL from another website. Add your own website and follow the verification instructions Google displays for your account.
✅ Step 3 — Verify Ownership
Google needs to confirm that you control the website before giving you access to its search data.
Search Console can provide different verification methods depending on your website and property type.
Blogger Users
If your website is hosted on Blogger, use the verification method Google currently provides for your setup. Don't rely on an outdated tutorial if Search Console shows different instructions.
🗺️ Step 4 — Submit Your Sitemap
After verification, open the Sitemaps section in Search Console.
Submit the sitemap path that belongs to your website.
Sitemap URLs can differ between platforms and setups. Use the sitemap available for your own website and make sure Search Console accepts it.
🔎 Step 5 — Check a Page With URL Inspection
Now let's check whether a particular article is available to Google.
Try It Yourself
1. Copy the URL of one of your published articles.
2. Open URL Inspection in Search Console.
3. Paste your article URL.
4. Review the information Google provides about that URL.
📊 Step 6 — Open the Search Results Report
Once your site has search data, open the Search results performance report.
You'll see several important metrics.
🔍 Step 7 — Find Your Real Search Queries
Open the Queries section.
These queries can show you what searches are generating impressions and clicks for your website.
Example
Suppose you publish:
Later, Search Console shows impressions for:
That's useful information. It tells you that Google is showing your page for a related search.
🧠 Step 8 — Improve the Article
Don't immediately create another article. First check whether the existing article can answer the search better.
Ask These Questions
- Does the article actually answer the search?
- Is the explanation easy to understand?
- Can I add a useful example?
- Is an important question missing?
- Would a better title describe the page more accurately?
- Can I add a relevant internal link?
⚠️ Step 9 — Find High Impressions but Low CTR
One useful situation to investigate is a page that receives many impressions but relatively few clicks.
Your page is appearing
People click less often
Review title & intent
Review the page and ask whether the title and description accurately communicate what the user will find.
🔗 Step 10 — Add Internal Links
Internal links connect related articles on your own website.
Link articles together when the connection is genuinely useful to the reader.
🖼️ Step 11 — Optimize Your Images
Images should support the article instead of slowing the page down unnecessarily.
- Use descriptive filenames.
- Compress large images.
- Use useful alt text where appropriate.
- Avoid unnecessary oversized images.

SEO isn't only about search engines. The page should also be useful and easy to navigate for real visitors.

- Buttons that are easy to tap
- Images that fit the screen
- No intrusive elements covering the content
